Silvia Aranda-García is graduated in Physical Activity Sport Sciences and studied PhD about exercise and health. She is a First aid and pathologies teacher in the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFC, University of Barcelona, Spain) for future sports professionals. She is a member of the Research Group on Physical Activity and Health (GRAFiS) of INEFC-Barcelona.

Her experience in drowning began as a beach lifeguard in 2000 and continued as an emergency coordinator for beaches in Barcelona. Her areas of interest in research are focused on drowning and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. She has scientific publications on comparison of different rescue methods and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in drowned.

She coordinated three editions (2017-2019) of an international lifeguard congress organized by Aquatic Activities and Lifeguard Research Group (GIAAS): Congreso Internacional de Seguridad, Emergencias y Socorrismo: la calidad desde la prevención y la primera intervención.

Its scientific objective is to contribute to the reduction of drowning and the improvement of its prognosis thanks to quality interventions by first responders.
