Jonathon Webber is an Advanced Qualified Lifeguard and Life Member of the Piha Surf Life Saving Club on the west coast of Auckland, New Zealand. An Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Anaesthesiology at the University of Auckland, Jonathon is a member of the Surf Life Saving New Zealand Medical Advisory Group, Officer of the New Zealand Resuscitation Council Executive, and member of the International Life Saving Federation Medical Committee. He has authored and co-authored several journal articles, textbook chapters and national surf life saving policies, and is the current Chair of Operations for Surf Life Saving Northern Region (NZ). Jonathon has presented and published work on drowning detection and response, lifeguard perception and performance of CPR, leisure-related injuries at NZ beaches, human factors in lifeguarding and airway management, first aid training and resuscitation in the aquatic environment.
