Alexander Wildenschild is a physician and PhD student at TrygFonden’s Drowning Research Unit, Prehospital Centre, Næstved, Denmark.

His research focuses on drowning and non-drowning aquatic incidents, with a particular emphasis on prevention and incidents in Danish harbours.

With 10 years’ experience as a surf lifeguard beach supervisor and Surf Lifesaving Instructor in both Denmark and Australia, Alexander has extensive knowledge of maritime and coastal environments. He is a co-author of several scientific articles on drowning and lifesaving and works to translate research findings into practical interventions that can save lives. 

From 2026-2029, Alexander is working on a PhD focused on drowning and non-drowning aquatic incidents in Denmark.
