Hannah Calverley – Australia

Hannah is currently studying a PhD at Federation University Australia. Her research will focus on the impact of alcohol on youth drowning, with the aim of developing the education and awareness of this target group on the risks involved with consuming alcohol in aquatic environments. She is passionate about water safety and drowning prevention having been involved with the RLSS UK for over 10 years as a volunteer, lifesaving competitor and more recently a Youth Ambassador. Hannah has a Master’s in Psychology and has co-authored and presented work at the RLSS Commonwealth 125th Anniversary Conference regarding accessibility and inclusivity of the Commonwealth Championships. Her main research interests include the prevalence of alcohol in drowning, lifeguard anxiety and emotion regulation strategies, and the development of drowning prevention interventions amongst high risk groups worldwide.
