Olga Marques, PhD – Portugal

My name is Olga Marques, I graduated in Physical Education and Sports in 2010 and Master’s Degree in Exercise and Health in 2012. I was a professor in the Sports and Health Department of Évora University, Technological Specialization of Sport, in the academic years 2010-2011 and 2011-2012. Since 2013, I have been an associate of the Bathers Assistance Service of the Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos (ISN) and in 2016 I was appointed by the ISN Director at the time, head of this service. In this context, I was the coordinator of the Lifeguard Technical Manual, 1st edition 2014 and 2nd edition 2016. In 2014/2015 I enrolled in my PhD at the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Physical Education, University of Coimbra. The research area is aquatic rescue and will be the first in Portugal. I developed several scientific works in the field of aquatic rescue, being presented at national and international conferences. In 2015, I was appointed by the Director of ISN Secretary of the Technical Commission for Aquatic Safety.
