Ismael researches and teaches bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Faculty of Education and Sport Sciences of the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain). He has extensive experience as a lifeguard, lifeguard instructor and lifesaving athlete.

Ismael has produced numerous publications on lifesaving, lifeguards’ physical tests, lifesaving sport and drowning prevention for primary school pupils and for people with disabilities. He has invented three patented devices that offer solutions to drowning and problems that affects lifesaving athletes and people with disabilities.

Currently, he collaborates with institutions that fight against drowning and promote lifesaving sport such as The International Life Saving Federation (ILS), The Royal Spanish Lifesaving Federation (RFESS) and the research groups UNESCO Chair of Education for Social Justice (Autonomous University of Madrid) and REMOSS (University of Vigo, Spain).
