Andrew Schmidt, MD – USA

Andrew is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville, FL. He started out as an ocean lifeguard in 1999 and has stayed close to the professional through his work with Lifeguards Without Borders and as the Medical Advisor for the American Red Cross Volunteer Lifesaving Corps. His primary areas of research and education are drowning resuscitation and pre-hospital medicine. Andrew is also an instructor for Surfing Medicine International (surfingmedicineinternational.com) and has developed numerous online lectures and resources to spread information on drowning resuscitation and surfing medicine to an international audience.
