Born in Lisbon – Portugal. Trained as a firefighter, first responder, rescue diver, lifeguard and lifeguard instructor, accumulates over 20 years’ experience in rescue. He holds a Ph.D. in product design and rescue equipment. As a designer with a broad spectrum of interests, such as: design, innovation, research methods, engineering, rescue skills and methods, cognitive psychology, cultural perception, ethical issues, efficient problem solving. With an inquisitive dedication and working aptitude, he searches for innovative solutions to current matters, understanding underlining issues and connecting different areas of knowledge. He divides his life between design and rescue, where he enthusiastically shares knowledge in several institutions, has the particular ability to connect, challenge and motivate others to become better men. Lives the outdoors as therapy, and usually asks “exactly how” and “why not”.
